Cytokeratin 8 Antibody (MA1-06318) in ICC/IF
Immunofluorescence analysis of Cytokeratin 8 was performed using 70% confluent log phase Caco-2 cells. The cells were fixed with ice-cold acetone at 4°C for 5 minutes and blocked with 2% BSA for 45 minutes at room temperature. MA1-06318 detects cytokeratin 8 in rat, human, and rabbit samples.
MA1-06318 has sucessfully been used in Western blotting, immunocytochemistry, flow cytometry and immunohistochemistry (frozen, paraffin).
The MA1-06318 immunogen is keratin isolated from the human breast carcinoma cell line MCF-7.

Cytokeratin 8 is a member of the type II keratin family clustered on the long arm of chromosome 12. Type I and type II keratins heteropolymerize to form intermediate-sized filaments in the cytoplasm of epithelial cells. Cutokeratin 8 typically dimerizes with keratin 18 to form an intermediate filament in simple single-layered epithelial cells. This protein plays a role in maintaining cellular structural integrity and also functions in signal transduction and cellular differentiation. Mutations in this gene cause cryptogenic cirrhosis.
