Immunofluorescent analysis of HSL in 3T3-L1 adipocytes using a HSL polyclonal antibody (Product # PA5-17196) (red). Lipid droplets have been labeled with a BODIPY fluorescent dye (green). DNA is labeled using a fluorescent blue dye.

Hormone-sensitive lipase (HSL) is an intracellular neutral lipase found in a variety of tissues, but primarily in adipose and steroidogenic tissues. It hydrolyzes triglycerides and cholesteryl esters. It is the major enzyme responsible for the mobilization of free fatty acids from adopise tissue.
