mCherry Antibody (MA5-47440) in ICC/IF
Immunofluorescent analysis of mCherry in HEK293 cells. Samples were stained with mCherry monoclonal antibody (Product # MA5-47440) using a dilution of 1:500 (green). Cells stably transduced with a lentiviral vector expressing mCherry-HA construct (red). The blue is Hoechst staining of nuclear DNA. The mCherry antibody reveals the mCherry protein expressed only in transduced cells which appear golden in color. Untransduced cells expressing no mCherry are not recognized by the mCherry antibody and so only their nuclei are visible.

MCherry is a fluorophore (a fluorescent molecule) used in biotechnology as a tracer to follow the flow of fluids, as a marker when tagged to molecules and cells components. mCherry is a monomeric fluorescent construct which absorbs at 587 nm and emits at 610 nm. It is resistant to photobleaching and is stable. It matures quickly, with a t 0. 5 of 15 minutes, allowing it to be visualized soon after translation.
