Recombinant rabbit monoclonal antibodies are produced using in vitro expression systems. The expression systems are developed by cloning in the specific antibody DNA sequences from immunoreactive rabbits. Then, individual clones are screened to select the best candidates for production. ALKBH5 (RNA demehtylase ALKBH5) is a dioxygenase that demethylates RNA by oxidative demethylation. Specifically, it demethylates N(6)-methyladenosine (m6A) RNA, the most prevalent internal modification of messenger RNA (mRNA) in higher eukaryotes. Demethylation of m6A mRNA affects mRNA processing and export. ALKBH5 can also demethylate N(6)-methyladenosine in single-stranded DNA (in vitro). It requires molecular oxygen, alpha-ketoglutarate and iron.
