Western blot analysis of CK2 alpha-1 in NIH/3T3 whole cell lysate, 293 whole cell lysate, Jurkat whole cell lysate, HeLa whole cell lysate, A549 whole cell lysate, U-87 whole cell lysate using a dilution of 1:1,000. Samples were incubated with CK2 alpha-1 monoclonal antibody (Product # MA5-49942). Secondary: Goat polyclonal to rabbit IgG at 1:50,000 dilution. Predicted band size: 46, 30 kDa. Observed band size: 45 kDa.

CSNK2A1 is a serine/threonine protein kinase that phosphorylates acidic proteins. The kinase exists as a tetramer and is composed of an alpha, an alpha-prime, and two beta subunits. The alpha subunits contain the catalytic activity while the beta subunits undergo autophosphorylation. The protein encoded by CK2 alpha-1 represents the alpha subunit. While CK2 alpha-1 is found on chromosome 20, a related transcribed pseudogene is found on chromosome 11. Three transcript variants encoding two different proteins have been found for CK2 alpha-1.
