HYB 131-01-02 is specific for MBL from human serum or plasma.
HYB 131-01-02 has been successfully used in ELISA, Western blotting and immunohistochemistry procedures. In Western blotting, HYB 131-01-02 reacts with human MBL both in its polymeric conformation and as a single subunit of molecular mass 26 kDa. Used as detection antibody in sandwich ELISA with a mannan or HYB 131-01-02 coat, HYB 131-01-02 is selective for normally oligomerized MBL. HYB 131-01-02 is also well suited for immunohistochemistry on human tissue samples, frozen or paraffin embedded, from liver and brain.
The HYB 131-01-02 immunogen is human MBL.
NOTE: Concentration is lot-dependent and can vary from 0.85-1.15 mg/mL
MBL2 is a calcium-dependent lectin involved in innate immune defense. It binds mannose, fucose and N-acetylglucosamine on different microorganisms and activates the lectin complement pathway. It also binds to late apoptotic cells, as well as to apoptotic blebs and to necrotic cells, but not to early apoptotic cells, facilitating their uptake by macrophages. MBL2 may bind DNA.
