Western blot analysis was performed on membrane enriched extracts (30 µg lysate) of HeLa (Lane 1), MCF7 (Lane 2), HCT 116 (Lane 3), A549 (Lane 4), A-431 (Lane 5) and Hep G2 (Lane 6). The blot was probed with 2-Cys Peroxiredoxin Mouse monoclonal Antibody (Product # LF-MA0073, 2 µg/mL) and detected by chemiluminescence using Goat anti-Mouse IgG (H+L) Superclonal™ Secondary Antibody, HRP conjugate (Product # A28177, 0.25 µg/mL, 1:4000 dilution). This gene encodes a member of the peroxiredoxin family of antioxidant enzymes, which reduce hydrogen peroxide and alkyl hydroperoxides. The encoded protein may play an antioxidant protective role in cells, and may contribute to the antiviral activity of CD8(+) T-cells. This protein may have a proliferative effect and play a role in cancer development or progression. Three transcript variants encoding the same protein have been identified for this gene.
