Detection of human SETDB1 by western blot. Samples: Whole cell lysate (50 µg) from HeLa and 293T cells prepared using NETN lysis buffer. Antibody: Affinity purified rabbit anti-SETDB1 antibody A300-121A-T (lot A300-121A-T-3) used for WB at 1 µg/ml. Detection: Chemiluminescence with an exposure time of 30 seconds.

The encoded enzyme catalyzes the reaction of S-adenosyl-L-methionine and histone L-lysine to produce S-adenosyl-L-homocysteine and histone N(6)-methyl-L-lysine. The encoded protein likely functions in transcriptional repression. Alternatively spliced transcript variants have been described.
