UVRAG Antibody (A301-995A) in WB
Detection of human UVRAG by western blot and immunoprecipitation. Samples: Whole cell lysate from HeLa (5, 15 and 50 µg for WB; 1 mg for IP, 20% of IP loaded) and HEK293T (T; 50 µg) cells. Antibodies: Affinity purified rabbit anti-UVRAG antibody (Product # A301-995A) used for WB at 0.04 µg/mL (A) and 0.4 µg/mL (B) and used for IP at 3 µg/mg lysate. UVRAG was also immunoprecipitated by rabbit anti-UVRAG antibody A301-996A, which recognizes a downstream epitope. Detection: Chemiluminescence with exposure times of 3 seconds (A and B).

UVRAG is predicted to contain a coiled-coil structure and is likely to be metabolically unstable based on the occurrence of a strong PEST domain. It interacts with Beclin 1, leading to activation of autophagy and thereof inhibition of tumorigenicity of human colon cancer cells. The gene for UVRAG protein is localized on human chromosome 11q13. 5 and complements the ultraviolet sensitivity of xeroderma pigmentosum group C cells. The gene has been extremely well conserved during evolution, implying an important role for this gene product in cell metabolism. Chromosomal aberrations involving this gene are associated with left-right axis malformation, and mutations in this gene have been associated with colon cancer. The protein is highly expressed in human brain, lung, kidney and liver.
