This calculator provides instructions on how to dilute a DNA stock solution to obtain specific DNA copy number per μL.

  1. If you know that the weight of your DNA (molar mass per bp) is different from the average weight of DNA basepair, change the value. Otherwise just use the default value.
  2. Choose the organism your DNA originates from, or choose "Custom DNA fragment". If you choose a custom fragment, fill in the length of the fragment.
  3. Fill in the measured concentration of your stock solution.
  4. Fill in the desired concentration (copies/µL) and volume.

The application will automatically calculate the pipetting volumes required for the desired dilution.
