Precipitation solution offers major advantages over other RNA precipitation methods in that it does not precipitate DNA, protein, or carbohydrates. It is supplied in one bottle of 100 mL at a concentration of 7.5 M. It is the method of choice for removing inhibitors of translation or cDNA synthesis from RNA preparations. Note: LiCl precipitation may not remove all DNA contamination from total RNA isolations. If the RNA is to be used for RT-PCR, it should be DNase I treated. The solution is rigorously tested for contaminating nonspecific endonuclease, exonuclease, and RNase activity.
